Presents Under The Tree :)

I feel dreadfully behind in posting some of the little things that I love to post about. So I just want to jot down a couple of Christmas memories from 2012 that happened to be favorites.

First of all, as Christmas was fast approaching I felt I didn't have a lot under our tree. Though I have been making a real effort not to overindulge at Christmastime, and this year finds us especially strapped financially, I still found myself wishing that there were more wrapped presents underneath our tree for the little ones.

I think it might have been on Christmas Eve when my good friend Lizz told me something positively brilliant. She stated that kids don't necessarily want big, splashy and / or expensive presents. They really just want lots of presents to unwrap / open. She was right!

Wade and Mallie were especially in the Christmas spirit this year. They could hardly contain their enthusiasm for presents and stockings Christmas morning. Christmas Eve evening I had a card table set up in the living room and was armed with scissors, tape, wrapping paper and boxes galore. I wouldn't let them see what was inside the boxes, but after the boxes were taped up I let those two help me wrap box...after box...after box. THEY LOVED IT. :)

Now ask me what was in so many, many boxes. A few of them held one $1 pair of gloves. A couple of them contained one headband each for the girls. One package, which also turned out to be a HUGE HIT by the way, held a package of Tangled little girl panties for Mallie. :)

I basically took a few items I was going to use as stocking stuffers and decided to wrap them up instead. Yes Lizz, it worked! The kids were thrilled with the number of packages they got to help wrap Christmas Eve night and of course then unwrap / open on Christmas morning. It was just plain fun.
